Thucydides (c. 460–c. 400 BCE) was an ancient Greek historian best known for History of the Peloponnesian War, a detailed and critical account of the conflict between Athens and Sparta. Renowned for his rigorous approach and focus on cause and effect, he is considered a founder of historical realism. Thucydides’ influential work remains a cornerstone of classical history and is in the public domain.
