Olaudah Equiano (c. 1745–1797) was a formerly enslaved African who became a prominent writer, abolitionist, and activist in 18th-century Britain. His autobiography, The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, vividly details his journey from slavery to freedom and helped fuel the abolitionist movement. A powerful voice for human rights, his work is now in the public domain.
