Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu (1814–1873) was an Irish writer known for his gothic and supernatural tales. His collection In a Glass Darkly includes the influential vampire story Carmilla and other eerie mysteries that helped define the horror genre. With rich atmosphere and psychological tension, Le Fanu’s work remains a cornerstone of classic ghost fiction. His writings are now in the public domain.
