John Locke (1632–1704) was an English philosopher and political theorist, often called the “Father of Liberalism.” His works, including Two Treatises of Government and An Essay Concerning Human Understanding, shaped modern democracy, advocating for natural rights, government by consent, and individual liberty. His ideas influenced the Enlightenment and the U.S. Constitution. His works are now in the public domain.
