Henrik Ibsen (1828–1906) was a Norwegian playwright and poet, often called the “father of modern drama.” His works, including A Doll’s House, Hedda Gabler, and Ghosts, challenged social conventions and explored themes of individual freedom, gender roles, and morality. Ibsen’s realistic dialogue and psychological depth revolutionized theater. His influential plays are now in the public domain.
