Edwin A. Abbott (1838–1926) was an English schoolmaster, theologian, and author best known for Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions. This satirical novella uses a two-dimensional world to explore social hierarchy, closed-mindedness, and higher dimensions in science and mathematics. Flatland remains a classic of speculative fiction and is now in the public domain.
