Dante Alighieri (c. 1265–1321) was an Italian poet best known for The Divine Comedy, an epic journey through Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise. Written in vernacular Italian, it shaped the development of the Italian language and Western literature. Dante’s blend of theology, philosophy, and vivid imagery makes his work a timeless masterpiece. His writings are now in the public domain.
