Daniel Defoe (c. 1660–1731) was an English writer and journalist best known for Robinson Crusoe, one of the first English novels. His adventurous tales often blend realism with fiction, exploring survival, society, and identity. Other notable works include Moll Flanders and A Journal of the Plague Year. Defoe’s influential storytelling helped shape the modern novel. His works are now in the public domain.
